Search Engine Optimization is among some of the most important digital marketing disciplines and for good reason. SEO allows an individual to increase the organic rankings for a website or individual webpages. There are two subcategories of SEO: onsite and offsite SEO. Today we are going to be covering 4 essential onsite SEO strategies to help get your SEO journey up and running!

1. Content Is King

One of, if not the most important, part of onsite SEO is yoour website content. When I say this, I am not just talking about adding a lot of keywords to your paragraphs. While it is important to make sure you have keywords and related phrases in your content, what is more important is making sure the content is easy to read and actually engaging. This will get the reader to stay on your site longer and possibly check out other pages.

2. Internal Linking

One often overlooked part of Onsite SEO is internal linking. This is when you link to other pages on your site within your content. You can see an example of this in the very first paragraph of this blog. This is important because it helps Google rank your pages easier and also provides a better customer experience to those visiting your pages.

3. Don’t Forget About Title Tags, Alt Tags, and Meta Descriptions.

Title tags, alt tags, and meta descriptions are more behind the scence features of a website, but are very important to onsite SEO. When creating these, make sure to use relevant keywords that you want to try and rank for. More people will see your title tags and meta descriptions so not only do you need to include relevant keywords, but you have to make them enticing to click on.

4. A Need For Speed

Another very important part of SEO is making sure your pages load fast. If your pages don’t load fast then many people are going to be dissatisfied and might even leave before it loads. So, how do you go about increasing the speed of your page? There are a lot of different strategies, but one of the biggest and most important is to reduce the file size of the images on your page. Your image might be showing up as 400 pixels by 600 pixels, when in reality the size of the actually image is 4x the size. So, reduce your images to the right size to increase the speed of your page
